Choosing the correct device

Eye gaze devices are available in two distinct categories – mobile, or portable, eye trackers that plug into a computer and eye trackers that are built-in to touch screen computer systems. Factors to consider when purchasing the correct eye tracker may be ease of use, portability, functionality and cost.

Mobile eye trackers

Mobile eye trackers are lightweight, smaller devices that simply plug into the USB port of a Windows based PC, laptop or tablet to enable eye gaze functionality. This makes them a very flexible solution that could be used on a number of different computers and with a variety of people - a great inclusive tool for schools and colleges. 

myGaze Assistive

Simple to setup, calibrate and operate, myGaze Assistive offers access to software specifically designed to develop a user’s early eye gaze skills, such as Inclusive Eye Gaze: Attention and Looking, as well as access to communication software such as Grid 3. Offering left click, left double click and click and hold mouse, myGaze Assistive is ideal for early eye gaze use and has enough scope for experienced users also

Offering additional performance to myGaze Assistive, including right click and zoom functionality, MyGaze Power is more suited for the experienced eye gaze user who wishes to use eye gaze for regular computer access such as browsing the web, email, social media and word processing

Tobii PCEye Mini

One of the smallest eye trackers on the market, the Tobii PCEye Mini is available with three different software option, all catering for different user levels and abilities. 

  • The Track and Learn package include Gaze Point, simple and easy to use eye gaze software, ideal for users just starting to use eye tracking. 
  • The Classic Tobii Gaze Interaction software package is designed for the more experienced user who requires full mouse emulation with right click and zoom functionality. 
  • The Windows Control software option meanwhile is for the advanced user with unique zoom features to accurately select small targets, shortcuts to access your desktop, volume control and copy/paste and an integrated keyboard

Tobii PCEye Plus Access

The PCEye Plus combines eye tracking, speech recognition, switch input and IR control for desktop computer access all in one unit. The eye tracker has an integrated switch port and microphone for switch connection and dictation access to convert speech into written text.

With the added inclusion of the EyeR Dongle, the user can access an environmental control system, with the ability to turn on lights or a television, for example, through eye gaze.

Tobii I-Series

It includes hot swappable batteries giving the user up to nine hours of power on one charge and comes with a reversible mounting plate that supports both REHAdapt and Daessy mounting systems
