Ergonomic mouse alternatives

Prolonged operation of a standard mouse can cause difficulties for some users leading to an increased possibility of repetitive strain injury. Some users with physical difficulties find that using a standard mouse is tiring and requires more movement than is comfortable for them.

Ergonomic mice and trackballs have been designed to offer a better handhold and to allow users to adopt a more natural arm and wrist position.

Roller Ball Devices

The devices with roller ball operation can offer more position options and do not require extensive movements and some can be hand held. Products such as the Marble Mouse and Kensington Orbit Optical Trackball offer the comfort of a mouse with the benefits of a trackball.

Touch Pad Access

Alternatively, touchpad access features such as those found in the Glidepoint Touchpads range, allows the user to simply glide their finger over the surface of the device and gently tap (or click the buttons) to activate left or right click.
